Noise Induced Hearing Loss Prevention
Noise is the one of the leading causes of hearing loss with exposure over a period of time in Ontario. Noise Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL) is one of the leading health hazards, and rapidly growing occupational disease, but is also totally preventable with proper measures.
NIHL occurs as a result of continuous exposure to high/medium noise levels at work over a period of time. Since it happens very gradually, workers don’t even think that they have suffered from hearing loss until it is too late. The affected parts cannot be healed and once the hearing is damage it’s permanent and irreversible.
Sometimes, it is impossible to avoid noise exposure, but hearing loss is totally preventable if you are aware of the necessary measures to take. This course of Hearing Loss Prevention will give you information about:
- Noise hazards and control methods;
- Sound levels exposure limits at work;
- Hearing protection selection and use
- Hygiene, and use of the devices that protect hearing.
- Ontario Noise Regulation compliance (O. Reg. 381/15)
Respiratory Protection (Fit Testing)
Ensure your workers are protected against airborne hazards. This course provides detailed instruction on selecting, using, and maintaining respiratory protective equipment.
Key Components:
- Fit testing requirements
- Maintenance and inspection procedures
- Respirator types and applications
