Occupational Hygiene Assessments
Proactively Managing Workplace Health Risks

At Momentum Health and Safety Consulting we are assisting businesses all over Ontario in identifying, assessing, and controlling job health hazards. These hazards have to be caught early to avoid/limit exposure to them as very little exposure to these health hazards can result in very significant health concerns. Our Occupational Hygiene Assessments are aimed at ensuring that you workplaces are safe, healthy, and in compliance with regulations – specifically tailored towards your industry and your workplace.
Our team consists of professionals certified with CRSP and NCSO and these people bring science-based solutions that we can rely on to help you implement the necessary measures to reduce exposure risks, comply with the law, and guarantee the safety of your workforce.
Whether you operate in construction, manufacturing, property management, or a service-based industry, Momentum delivers practical, compliant strategies that go beyond checkboxes and make a real difference.
Air Monitoring for Workplace Exposure
Ensure that your employees are not being exposed to dangerous substances such as silica, benzene or coal tar that are above the legal limits.
We provide full-shift personal and area air sampling for various health hazards such as:
- Respirable Crystalline Silica, Welding Fumes, Dusts, Metals
- Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from solvents, adhesives, coatings
- Combustion By-Products such as Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂)
- Chemical-Specific Contaminants like Isocyanates, Acid Gases, and more
Our reports compare results to Ontario Regulation 833, ACGIH TLVs, and recognized occupational exposure standards – helping you make informed decisions on engineering controls, PPE, and worker health strategies.
Indoor Air Quality Assessments
Poor indoor air can result in discomfort, illness, and productivity loss. We help identify and resolve Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) concerns before they escalate into major complaints or liabilities.
We investigate:
- Odours and chemical irritants
- Temperature and humidity imbalances
- Mould and bioaerosols
- Ventilation effectiveness (HVAC & local exhaust)
- CO₂ and other indoor pollutants
Occupational Noise Assessments
Exposure to high noise levels can result in permanent hearing loss – often without early warning signs.
We conduct:
- Noise dosimetry for personal exposure over a full or partial shift
- Area sound level mapping to determine where hearing protection is required
- CSA-compliant hearing protection selection and fit-testing
All assessments are in line with Ontario Regulation 381/15, CSA Z107.56, and CSA Z94.2. Our detailed reporting and recommendations help ensure both compliance and protection.
Designated Substances & Hazardous Materials Surveys
Under Ontario Regulation 490, certain substances require specific exposure control programs and risk assessments.
We help identify and manage risks related to:
- Asbestos
- Lead
- Silica
- Mercury
- Isocyanates
- Other designated or high-risk materials
Our assessments support safe work procedures, proper controls, and documented compliance – critical for high-risk industries, renovation projects, and Ministry of Labour orders.
Heat Stress Assessments & Health and Safety Talks
Extreme heat is a growing concern in both indoor and outdoor work environments.
We help employers:
- Evaluate heat exposure risk (using WBGT and other methods)
- Create heat stress prevention programs
- Develop seasonal safety talks on heat and cold stress tailored to your workforce
